luc's mugen style rt4wd new pic's

this is 15min's after picking it up in minisnowda, about 3 weeks ago now. many dents, mint interior 120k on the motor. overall very worth the drive and 1300 bucks, everything works!

146.jpg

yes different hood (guy hit a deer), new radiator, ac system, master cyl, cv axles, ect...

147.jpg

have many more pic's since then, its going under a complete body/respray. it will be champ white HNO code quite hard to find this paint, honda has a 2 letter 3 digit code usually, but they found it and the rt is now half painted.

when i have the time i will upload some action shots. lots of work! im getting very excited to finish

    Nice Find!!!
  • and yes it came with the white rt steelies, but tires were less than steller, so i brought my ep3's.
one way was 390 miles! what a way to have a bad trip if ia had a flat tire.
all in all i spent 65 bucks in gas for both cars the whole trip! well the rt did come with lil less than half a tank :D
rt doesnt get as good milage for shure, when my 2wd hit half, the rt was 1/8 less than that.
but over all good times driving two waggys down the freeway
  • i can get a turbo kit from my old job for 600bucks, really want to do it,......

question is has anyone ever passed the sniff test with boost? in theory it should as i would be using aem's fic and does not do anything fuel/timing wise until it reads boost. anyones imput would be great.
  • has anyone ever passed the sniff
i vote wai t'll after test...?
  • well here is some progress shots, alot of work going on. total resto. i want no rust left over!

    the start of the project
    223.jpg

those rockers are very bad places for rust, and the bad part is you never know until you take the skirts off! but new metal and some welding works wonders :)

    224.jpg

fenders.... i have no idea what this guy did to them, but both fenders are exactly the same dents! looks like the car was lifted with a big strap or something
    225.jpg

now one finished fender, one down one to go :)
    226.jpg

funny this car is very equil for damage, lol both sides are almost identical
    227.jpg

the nicer body worked side :)
    228.jpg

    painted champ white side one

Hey, can u do a write up on the process u went through to remove the rust and make it look perfect like new again. I have a good ammount of rust in the same places
  • EDwEFprtsEDwEFprts Senior Wagonist
i want to see updates!... on this wagon and your other one.
  • got some more pic's

so much work, it seems at times i spend hours after work and my one day off a week and i stand back and say man seems like its not going anywhere! but it is i know :| and i cant wait till im done!

a step by step on how to remove rust...... well i can tell you that you need to cut it off to the clean stuff and weld in the new, either sheet metal or the same part from a doner car. if you follow my pic's you can get an idea, but i will say you need to weld, you need cutting tools, sanding disc's, compressor, ect...

    new pics
    the ugly side of rockers!
    637.jpg

    638.jpg

    639.jpg

    one clean rust free rocker
    640.jpg

the doner car. yes my other waggy, she will be missed, but not completely as she will be part of the new rt4wd
    641.jpg

the new rocker welded in place. still have to do the front wheel area wich will be sheet metal, my other
waggy has the surface rust in this area and i only want to use fresh metal!
    642.jpg

some may not like it, but im a mugen fan! i love 95% of everything they do or have.... but....
nothing i have is real mugen. and im happy with that, everthing 3rd 4th and 5th gen has been out of production
for years. and the people selling this stuff can stuff the price up their arse!
    643.jpg

    644.jpg

painted the hood this morning. its from my old wagon.
    645.jpg

i sold the d2's a while ago, traded down in adjustability but traded up in quality. it only makes sence after all im an authorized
tein installer, and get a great deal on the stuff! but still expencive for me. :(
    646.jpg

    647.jpg

picked up one of these and its fake and i love it!
    648.jpg

this one i made from the hatch wing on the old wagon, its mugen style as much as i can imagine if mr. honda's son
got his hands on an rt or shuttle
    649.jpg

im really still trying to love it, i like it, it does need some work still, but im still undecided on it. ive been working on this
for a few months now

wow dude this thing is sick.
  • thanks!
im starting to really love the outcome :) got some parts coming from topspeed later today, hatchback catback, act 6puck unsprung clutch i will be useing with my stage 1 exedy pressure plate, some amber tint spray for the front signals and other odds and ends. also decided to spray my ep3's champ white as well for the R'ish look.
i'll upload some more pic's in the next few day's
  • ok, i have 95% of the parts i need to finish! just some misc, suspension parts and new brakes. other than that the car is 80% complete

later tonight i will upload the pic's so far, i need a break! 2 months already, my eta for completion is monday!

    im in for pix!!
  • ... ...
    me2
  • here is just a few pic's then its off to work.

yes these headlights. i needed lights and these where cheaper, and with hid's brighter anyway. kinda starting to grow on me with the look of the car anyway.
    136.jpg

old head from my other wagon, new block from the rt4wd, it a shame that its hard to find headers that work!
    137.jpg

my front sus, skipped the skunk2 uppers and got some revo's somthing new that my old job is carrying, very close in quality and only 99 bucks well 79 my price
    138.jpg

my cat back! im proud of this one, it was a bbp catback for a hatchback, now its an rtee4 cb
    139.jpg

another view, runs in the stock location
    140.jpg

last but not least, my nr-g harness bar and harnesses, good times installing this one. good thing i had the interior out anyway!
    141.jpg

ok off to finish the waggy :P
  • EDwEFprtsEDwEFprts Senior Wagonist
    ^ nice updates.
the only thing that's bugging me are the headlights. :)

figured someone would say something about the head lights lol. you cant do a itr tribute without projector's though, and im sick of fabing stuff to work for now so no jdm itr headlights. call topspeed @773-847-3718 they ship no problem
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
Holy badass! You should bring this thing to the Import Alliance meet in TN this late July! Only thing I'm not a fan of is the head lights, I can dig the bumper and stuff from what it seems.

thanx man! ok the headlights! everyone must understand i love 4th gens. i bought my first one in 93, 89 4door. but..... i wont own any other gen except 3rd gen crx's so with this said updating the looks as much as possible is what im trying to do :)
the tenn meet might be in the works now i think of it, i'll be heading down to florida around that time so ill have to see.

anyone in the chicago area that wants the front seats out of the rt come and get them, THEY ARE MINT! and free! i will not ship i have no time at all! so sorry. grey color by the way. id hate to throw them away, and have no room for them.

so it's got a few thing's i must put on still, but she's fully functional now. over 70 day's of work, not full day's mind you, but 4-8 hours daily.
i will say ive never done a full restore to any of my rides, well one reason is they never needed it. lol it make's me feel old lolz, to see these car's in such bad shape,

will i ever do a full color change again? not a chance in hell!

im still working on the top wing, one day i'll be happy with it, "im kinda pickey" if it's off a little it's still no go.

rim's will be the ep3's in champ white as well as im painting those tonight!

well im in love with her,... but,... i think it's gonna be some time till i spend any $$$$ on her.... now it's her turn to put out!
